Sorceries in Magic: The Gathering
A Fundamental Part of the Game
Sorceries are one-shot or short-term magical spells that have been in the game since day one and are foundational to Magic: The Gathering. They are never put onto the battlefield instead they take effect when their costs are paid.
Green Sorceries
Green sorceries are a great tool for a variety of decks. Any multicolor deck with green in it will likely get good use out of the ramp and mana fixing that green sorceries provide.
Black Sorceries
Black sorcery cards are curveballs that you can cast on your turn to disrupt your opponent's plans or gain an advantage. They are often used to destroy creatures, draw cards, or manipulate the graveyard.
