Thierry Henry appointed head coach of France men's Olympic team

Former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry has been appointed as the head coach of the France men's Olympic team.

The 45-year-old, who won the 1998 FIFA World Cup with France, will take charge of the team for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Henry retired from playing in 2014 and has since worked as a pundit and coach. He was most recently the assistant manager of the Belgium national team.

Henry will be tasked with leading France to their first Olympic gold medal in football. The team has won silver twice, in 1984 and 2000.

Henry said he was "honoured" to be appointed as the head coach of the France men's Olympic team.

"This is a dream come true for me," Henry said. "I am very proud to be given this opportunity to lead my country at the Olympic Games."

Henry will begin his new role with France in January 2023.
