Clinton's journey began when her husband, Bill Clinton, was elected Governor of Arkansas in 1978. After serving as First Lady of Arkansas, she went on to become a U.S. Senator from New York and the first female Secretary of State in American history.

Early Life and Education

Hillary Clinton was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Park Ridge, Illinois. She graduated from Yale Law School in 1973 and met her future husband, Bill Clinton, while they were both students there. After graduating, Clinton worked on the congressional staff of former Georgia Representative Charles Hughes.

Political Career

Clinton's political career took off in 1979 when she was appointed as a member of the Legal Services Corporation's board of directors. She later served as First Lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1983 to 1992. In 1992, she was elected to the U.S. Senate, becoming the first female U.S. Senator from New York. She served in the Senate for eight years before becoming Secretary of State in 2009.
